Monarch's Roost

Family Reunion Cabin Near Helen for 14 Guests

October 14, 2026

A family reunion for up to 14 fits beautifully in one house at Monarch’s Roost: four bedrooms (three king rooms and a bunk room), 2.5 bathrooms, a full kitchen, a grill and a game room, about 10 minutes from downtown Helen. Picture everyone under one roof, with long meals, cousins racing to the pool table, and grandparents on the porch with coffee. The details that make it smooth are who sleeps where, who cooks what and what each age group will do. Outside details were checked in late September 2026, so confirm current hours and fees on the official sites.

How do 14 people sleep across four bedrooms?

The cabin sleeps up to 14:

  • Three king-bed bedrooms. The primary suite and Bedroom 2 are downstairs, and Bedroom 3 is upstairs. The primary suite has a soaking tub.
  • One bunk room upstairs with two full-size bunk beds, sleeping eight.
  • 2.5 bathrooms, so a loose morning schedule keeps things easy.

Bedrooms have 50-inch TVs. A simple split: grandparents or anyone who prefers to skip stairs take the downstairs rooms, couples take the other king, and cousins share the bunk room, which they will remember for years. Send the plan out a week ahead so arrival day is all hugs. Check-in is 4 PM with a keypad, so relatives driving in from different states can arrive when they arrive.

One guest wrote, “Everybody had their own space.” That is from Keri M. in a VRBO review posted October 2025. Another Airbnb guest, Anthony from Oldsmar, Florida, wrote: “Three families enjoyed the time grilling , time in the hot tub, the sauna and all the games.”

What is the easiest way to feed a big family?

The kitchen is fully stocked, with a range, oven, microwave, coffee maker, cookware and tableware. On the deck there is a Weber Genesis propane grill, and propane is included. Assign one meal per household: a grill night, a breakfast crew, a casserole-and-salad night. Buy groceries in Helen on your way in, since it is about 10 minutes from the cabin. Bears live in the area, so keep food and trash inside and use the bear-proof enclosure by the driveway with the bear straps secured. Pickup is Monday morning.

Evenings are made for the fire. Firewood is not provided, so pick some up at roadside firewood stands or local stores on your way in. Open the flue before lighting the indoor or outdoor wood-burning fireplaces, and save the marshmallows for the fire pit.

What is there to do for mixed ages?

At the cabin, without going anywhere:

  • Game room. A pool table, Ms. Pac-Man and Golden Tee arcade games (free to use) and giant Jenga. A poker set is on the game room table. The same reviewer mentioned “activities upstairs for the kids do with a pool table and two video games.”
  • Outdoors. Bocce, a fire pit, a screened porch and string lights for the after-dinner crowd.
  • Hot tub and sauna. The hot tub is private and preheated, and the outdoor infrared sauna has a maximum of 30 minutes per session. Keep an eye on the little ones in the tub.

Away from the cabin, a short outing is plenty:

  • Anna Ruby Falls, about 5 minutes. FIND Outdoors lists a 0.4-mile paved trail to the twin falls, open 9 AM to 6 PM with the last ticket sale at 5 PM, and $6 for ages 16 and up, free for ages 15 and under. FIND Outdoors asks commercial, non-profit or charter groups of more than 10, such as camps, daycares and tour companies, to give 90 days of lead time. That is for organized groups; check the official site if you have questions about your visit.
  • Unicoi State Park, about 5 minutes. Lists a $10 parking pass and trails from a one-third-mile nature walk to a six-mile round trip.
  • Downtown Helen, about 10 minutes. Explore Helen describes more than 200 shops in a walkable core. It is a lovely ice cream and window-shopping afternoon.
  • The valley. See our guide to Nacoochee Mound and Hardman Farm and our Nearby page for more stops with approximate drive times.

Aim for one outing a day and let anyone who wants a quiet afternoon stay home. Reunions go best with a loose plan and plenty of time around the table.

What if the family is bigger than 14?

The cabin sleeps 14. If your group is larger, or you are planning something bigger than a family stay, email info@monarchsroost.com before you book. Everything is handled online, and we reply by email.
